The Diego Says Game is a fun and easy game that you can play with your friends. All you need are numbered slips of paper and a bowl or other container.
Before you start the game, teach the players the different movements and sounds for each animal. You may want to practice a couple of times before playing.
Jaguar--Run in place and roar
Monkey--Put your hands near your armpits and make an "Ooh-Ooh-Ah-Ah" sound
Turtle--Get down on all fours and curl your back up like a turtle shell
Crab--Squat down and snap your fingers or open and close your hands like claws
Macaw--Flap your arms like wings
Sloth--Lie on your back and put your hands and feet straight out (as though you're very tired)
Each child draws a number from a bowl. The child with the number "1" gets to be Diego first. Diego faces the other children and tells them which animal to pretend to be by saying, "Diego says, 'Be a monkey, por favor'" or "Diego says, 'Be a macaw, por favor.'"
Just like in Simon Says, if a child does what Diego commands when he doesn't say "Diego says" first, then that child is out.
If Diego forgets to say, "por favor" at the end of each command, he's also out of the game and the next child gets to be Diego. Keep playing until each child has had a chance to be Diego.
